In 1982, four years after relocating from Missouri to Tyler, Kim and Pat Melius opened a 1,600-square-foot furniture store near Green Acres Baptist Church called Southside Furniture. During the next 20 years the store expanded and relocated twice into larger facilities. In 2005, Southside Furniture became the Ashley Furniture HomeStore. In 2006, another location opened in Longview, Texas. After five years the need for a better variety of furniture and brands became very evident. So in 2010, Ashley Furniture HomeStore was gone, and Southside Furniture made its return to Tyler, Texas, and debuted in Longview, Texas. Southside Furniture carries Simmons Beautyrest, Corsicana Bedding, Ashley, Medlift, Liberty Furniture Inc., Largo, Standard, Broyhill, Vaughan-Bassett, Best, and Steve Silver. Southside Furniture has been serving East Texas for over 30 years and is committed to providing quality furniture at affordable prices for many years to come.
